Bariatric Surgery involves the reduction of stomach size (Sleeve Gastrectomy) or bypassing of parts of the small intestine (Bypass Surgery). In addition to weight reduction, diabetic control is also efficient.

This is a highly specialized field where access to the abdomen is minimized to 3 to 4 small incisions. Common operations include appendicectomy, cholecystectomy, fundoplication, splenectomy,hernia repair etc. Access to the chest (Thoracoscopy) is to repair diaphragmatic hernias and for a variety of other procedures.

Here abdominal access is confined to a single incision of 1 -1.5 cm. Advantages include less pain, cosmetic scar and earlier return to work.

Ambulatory Surgery is a planned surgical operation/procedure done on a selected patient who is admitted and discharged on the same day in the specialized unit. It includes laparoscopic GI, gynecology, pain control, urology, orthopedic and other procedures.

Hernia occurs at weak spots in the muscles. They cause bulges and may be painful. They do not heal and tend worsen over time. Surgery is the only cure for hernia.

This constitutes surgery on the liver, gall bladder, and pancreas for benign diseases (like gallstones, empyema, and strictures) and cancers.

Open surgery for prolapsed uterus is helpful by removing prolapsed uterus from below with no scars at all on the abdominal wall.
